A young woman identified as Mirabel, who uses the handle @mirab351 on TikTok, has become the centre of an online outcry after posting a video alleging she was sexually assaulted in her own home by a stranger.

The video, shared on social media on Monday, February 16, 2026, quickly spread across platforms including X (formerly Twitter) and TikTok, prompting widespread concern and a call for action from authorities and activists alike.

In the video, Mirabel described how the alleged attack occurred on Sunday, February 15.

She said she was struggling with insomnia early that morning and drank alcohol to try to sleep. Around 9 a.m., after hearing someone knock on her door, she opened it and was reportedly shoved back into her apartment, losing consciousness after hitting her head. Upon waking, she said a man was on top of her and that he had placed a cloth in her mouth. She said she was left bleeding, believing at first it was her menstrual period.

In a message Mirabel said she later received from the alleged assailant — reportedly sent via TikTok — the man, identified in the exchange as “Priston,” admitted to the act and described the encounter, even referring to using a face blade to cut her to facilitate penetration.

The message also contained troubling comments about paying people to stop outside her home and statements about their prior brief encounters.

The video and message immediately drew intense reactions online, with many users rallying under hashtags like #StopRapingWomen — demanding justice for Mirabel and urging authorities to investigate the claims.

Agency appeals for location of Mirabel

The Lagos Domestic and Sexual Violence Agency (DSVA) issued a statement confirming they were aware of the viral videos and actively trying to contact Mirabel to provide support and verify her location.

The agency highlighted that sexual assault is a crime and stressed that survivors deserve care, protection, and confidential support.

They also asked the public to assist in finding her safely so that she can receive immediate intervention and help.

DSVA listed multiple contact channels — including phone numbers and social media — for anyone with credible information to reach out with details that could help connect them with her.

Public react

The case has triggered a broader conversation on social media about sexual violence and online safety.

Thousands of users have expressed shock and sympathy, while others have criticised those who dismissed the allegation or made insensitive comments.

Some commentators on public forums have urged legal and protective action, while others have questioned details of the posts.

Sexual assault referral centres like the Mirabel Centre in Lagos provide medical, psychological, and legal support for survivors.
