My doctor asked why I did not let someone else impregnate me- Actor Nkubi’s wife alleges

The wife of popular Nigerian media personality Nkubi has opened up about what she described as a deeply unsettling experience during a hospital appointment while pregnant.
In an interview with Pulse, she recounted events surrounding her anomaly scan — a routine prenatal examination used to assess a baby’s development.
According to her, the situation took an unexpected turn after the attending doctor reviewed her test results and inquired whether there was a history of dwarfism in her family.
She explained that she responded honestly, stating that her husband lives with dwarfism. What followed, she alleged, left her stunned.
According to her account, the doctor questioned why she chose to conceive with her husband instead of considering her brother-in-law or another man.
She further claimed the doctor suggested the possibility of using a sperm donor as an alternative.
The remark, she said, felt inappropriate and discriminatory. She described the exchange as a moment that exposed lingering prejudice toward people living with dwarfism.
The mother said the experience was both hurtful and disappointing, particularly within a medical setting where professionalism and sensitivity are expected.
She added that individuals with dwarfism often face subtle and overt forms of bias, even in institutions meant to provide care and support.
Her revelation has sparked discussions online about medical ethics, patient dignity and the need for greater awareness and inclusivity within healthcare spaces.
Many social media users have criticised the alleged comments, describing them as intrusive and unacceptable.
Nkubi, known for his work in entertainment and media, has previously spoken publicly about embracing his stature and challenging stereotypes.
The couple’s experience has renewed conversations about respect, equality and the treatment of people with physical differences in Nigeria’s healthcare system.
