A paramedic in the United States, Christopher Carroll, has been charged following allegations that he secretly recorded himself contaminating items at his workplace and attempted to sell the videos online.

Carroll, 36, is facing multiple criminal charges linked to incidents said to have occurred at facilities operated by the Baltimore County Fire Department.

Prosecutors allege that Carroll recorded himself while on duty and in uniform, deliberately contaminating office equipment and other shared items within the fire station.

According to court filings, investigators believe Carroll targeted several locations, including administrative offices and common-use areas.

Authorities allege that items affected included a supervisor’s workstation, food and drink containers, cleaning supplies and other shared facilities used by staff.

Prosecutors further claimed that Carroll documented the acts on video and later uploaded the footage online, where it was allegedly offered for sale through subscription-based platforms.

During a court hearing in Towson, Maryland, Carroll’s defence lawyer, Seth Okin, told the court that his client had no prior criminal record and voluntarily surrendered to police earlier in the week.

He also disclosed that Carroll travelled from Pennsylvania to Maryland with assistance from his father to turn himself in.

Okin said the defence was still reviewing the allegations and acknowledged that the claims were serious, adding that he could not yet provide an explanation for the alleged actions.

State prosecutors told the court that additional video evidence is under review and suggested that the scope of the alleged conduct may be broader than initially reported.

Carroll was denied bail and remains in custody as investigations continue. Authorities have not yet disclosed when he is expected to next appear in court.
