Nigerians on social media have expressed shock and outrage following widespread reports that a school gateman allegedly raped a three‑year‑old girl dropped off at a school in Aba, Abia State.
The incident is said to have occurred at a private school located near 58 Umuosi Road, by Ibadan Road in Aba, and the alleged suspect is being identified online as the school’s gateman.
Social media users shared photos of the young child and accused the gateman of harming her while she was at school.
The account also claimed that the victim’s parents reported the matter to the police in Aba.
A Facebook user named Omo Chioma, whose post has been circulated widely, also alleged that the proprietor of the school is trying to influence the investigation by attempting to have the case moved to Umuahia, where she is said to have connections.
The user urged people to share the story broadly so that the appropriate authorities could take action.
Public reaction and calls for justice
The incident has attracted strong public condemnation across social platforms. In response to the reports, Demi Care Foundation — a child protection advocacy group — wrote on social media that the alleged assault “should not be swept under the carpet” and appealed directly to the Abia State Government to intervene and ensure justice.
Many Nigerians have echoed similar demands online, calling for thorough investigation and accountability from law enforcement and educational authorities.
At the time of writing, no official statement has been released by the Abia State Police Command or the school authorities confirming the details of the allegation or identifying suspects.
