A tragic incident has rocked a community in Gombe metropolis, where a woman identified as Fauziyya reportedly died after being poisoned by her co-wife in what residents described as a jealousy-driven attack.

The incident occurred in the Riyal Anti Kalare area of Gombe city, sending shockwaves across the neighbourhood.

According to a local source, Ismail Abubakar Maisalati, long-standing tensions between the two women over their husband’s attention allegedly led to the deadly act.

The suspect was said to have laced Fauziyya’s food with a poisonous substance locally known as “Gidigam,” which she consumed.

Shortly after eating the meal, Fauziyya reportedly fell ill and later died, leaving behind her husband and children.

Eyewitnesses and community members said rivalry between the co-wives had been brewing for some time, fueled by competition and domestic disputes.

Residents have since called on security agencies to investigate the matter thoroughly and ensure that justice is served.

Many in the community have also offered prayers for the deceased and her family, describing the incident as a painful reminder of the dangers of unresolved household conflicts.
