An uncle of the late talented singer Ifunanya Nwangene, popularly known as Nanyah, has disclosed that a snake was found under the broken-down ambulance taking her remains to her hometown in Enugu State.
This was disclosed in a Facebook post by marketing accomplished communications professional, Dr. Uche Nworah, who spoke with the late singer’s uncle.
According to Dr. Nworah, the uncle, who had been a long-time friend on Facebook, called him, ostensibly after he made a post about the incident.
The uncle disclosed that the ambulance hired to transport the remains of the budding star to Enugu, in accordance with her father’s wish, broke down along the Abuja Expressway.
An alternative vehicle was immediately summoned, but while waiting for its arrival, a snake was noticed nestling under the broken-down vehicle, according to the uncle. The snake was reportedly chased and killed.
The uncle also dispelled the claim that Nanyah lived on the ground floor, asserting that she actually lived on the second floor.
This raised questions about how snakes gained access to her living space, with one of them ending up biting her.
According to residents in the area, two snakes were allegedly killed inside or around the second-floor apartment where the singer lived shortly after the incident.
They further claimed that a third snake was later discovered and killed within the premises of the compound.
Neighbours also recounted what they described as a troubling moment immediately after the singer was bitten. One resident reportedly offered to rush her to the hospital in his car, but the vehicle allegedly failed to start despite several attempts.
With no immediate alternative and with time ticking, Nanyah was said to have run out of the estate in search of a commercial vehicle to take her to a hospital.
The first hospital she ran to, unfortunately, had no anti-snake venom and could not be of help to her, leading her to book another ride to the Federal Medical Centre, Abuja.
FMC had the anti-snake venom, but not in sufficient quantity to save her. A colleague of the deceased and her choir director disclosed that the doctor treating her prescribed a drug for them to procure, and they raced to Skylark Pharmacy, which had it, but by the time they returned, Nanyah was gone.
Nanyah, an alumnus of ‘The Voice’, was a talented classical and R & B singer who was on the verge of blossoming into global reckoning when she died.
