Nollywood actress Angela Okorie has reportedly been re-arrested in connection with an alleged refusal to pay the lawyer who helped secure her release from detention in Suleja.

According to multiple reports, the actress was taken back into custody on Tuesday, barely hours after she perfected her bail conditions and walked out of Suleja prison.

The development came shortly after actor Stanley Ontop raised an alarm on social media about an alleged plan to re-arrest her.

In a video posted on Instagram, fellow actress Doris Ogala claimed the fresh arrest was linked to a dispute over legal fees.

Ogala alleged that a Senior Advocate of Nigeria was engaged through a third party to handle Okorie’s bail, with an agreed fee of ₦5 million.

She claimed that after the bail was secured, Okorie reportedly distanced herself from the arrangement, insisting she never requested a SAN and would not pay the money, despite the intermediary allegedly making financial commitments.

“You can’t live beyond your means. Angela has been arrested again. The SAN charged ₦5 million for the bail process, and now she’s saying she didn’t ask for it and won’t pay,” Ogala said.

Okorie had earlier regained her freedom following her arrest over a petition reportedly filed by fellow actress Mercy Johnson, bordering on alleged defamation.

As of the time of filing this report, Angela Okorie and her legal team have not issued an official statement on the circumstances surrounding her re-arrest.
