“How can a child be this mannerless?” – Lady reacts to viral video of Omije Ojumi’s son at burial

A Nigerian woman, Hakeemah Folakemi Muhammahed, has ignited fresh online debates after commenting on a viral video showing Omije Ojumi’s son during the late gospel singer’s burial.
Bunmi Akinaanu, fondly known as Omije Ojumi, was laid to rest in Lagos on January 29, 2026, in a ceremony marked by tense and emotional scenes involving her children. The moments later spread widely on social media.
In the viral clip, her son, William, was seen screaming at the relatives of his father, Rotimi William Adeoye, who were present at the burial of his mother.
The father had tried to speak with the children from his base in the United Kingdom, but was stopped by Omije Ojumi’s relatives when he delved into how the late gospel singer prevented him from having access to the children.
The relatives of the estranged husband of the deceased tried to insist that he had a right to speak with his children, but they were shouted down.
It was during the ensuing commotion that Omije Ojumi’s son was caught on camera screaming at his father’s relatives.
While many viewers sympathised with the children, citing grief, others criticised the boy’s behaviour as disrespectful and excessive.
Reacting via Facebook, Hakeemah blamed the late singer for what she described as a poor upbringing. She wrote:
“I wonder why Bunmi (Omije Ojumi) would train her children to be so aggressive and temperamental. People are now using her son as sticker. He actually behaved like a mannerless child simply because he wanted to prove that he is not part of his father’s family. Am I the only one seeing it this way? I thank God that I have been able to train my children with good character, humility and humbleness. They can never behave like mad dog whether outside or even at home. They are quite reserved. May her soul rest in peace.”
Her post quickly drew attention, with some agreeing with her opinion while others accused her of being insensitive to a grieving child.
