Fresh outrage has erupted in Kenya after a Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) soldier reportedly beat a gym instructor, Alphy Migasha, to death in a fit of rage over an alleged affair with his wife.
Migasha, a fitness trainer based in Nairobi’s Umoja estate, was brutally assaulted by the soldier, Nicholas Ireri, shortly after Ireri returned from military deployment in Somalia.
Witnesses said the fatal confrontation occurred on December 22, 2025, outside a liquor joint in Umoja One, where Migasha was seated when Ireri suddenly approached him.
CCTV footage circulating online reportedly captured the moment the two men exchanged a few words before the soldier violently dragged Migasha to the ground and began raining heavy blows on him as stunned bystanders tried unsuccessfully to intervene.
After the attack, Ireri was seen calmly walking away, leaving the gym instructor writhing in pain on the pavement.
Migasha was rushed by family members to Mama Lucy Kibaki Hospital, where doctors confirmed he had sustained multiple severe injuries, including fractured ribs, a broken leg and serious chest trauma.
Despite emergency medical efforts, he later died from complications linked to the beating.
Sources close to the family said preparations for Migasha’s burial are already underway, while the soldier is currently in custody and awaiting formal sentencing.
The incident has sparked widespread anger online, with many Kenyans calling for justice and tougher punishment for security officers who abuse their power in personal disputes.
