Gospel singer Alayo Melody has shared a touching video from the final birthday celebration of late gospel singer and evangelist Bunmi Akinnaanu, popularly known as Omije Ojumi, stirring emotions across social media.
The video, posted on Alayo Melody’s Instagram page on Wednesday, captures the singer visiting Akinnaanu while she was bedridden.
In the clip, Alayo is seen presenting her with a birthday cake bearing the number 46, singing to her and offering prayers for her recovery.
The moment has since drawn widespread reactions from fans and colleagues who described it as deeply emotional.
Sharing the video, Alayo Melody wrote, “Gone from our sight, but never from our hearts. Your memory will live on in the hearts of everyone who knew you. My deepest sympathies to the husband, children and family during this time of loss. May you find comfort in one another.”
The post came just a day after Alayo Melody shared an official statement from Akinnaanu’s family, alongside a photograph of the deceased and a hospital video.
The family announcement confirmed that the gospel singer passed away on January 12, 2026, at a hospital in Lagos.
The statement read in part: “With great sadness, we announce the passing of Evangelist Olubunmi Akinnaanu Adeoye, popularly known as Omije Ojumi. She passed away on January 12, 2026, in Lagos, Nigeria. May God grant her eternal rest.”
The statement was signed by Olawale Akinnaanu on behalf of the family.
Bunmi Akinnaanu was widely known within Christian circles for her soul-stirring song “Omije Ojumi,” which earned her recognition as a devoted gospel minister and evangelist.
Following the announcement of her death, tributes have continued to pour in from fellow gospel artistes, ministers, and fans who celebrated her life, music, and spiritual impact.
Her passing has left a deep void in the Nigerian gospel music community, with many describing her legacy as one of faith, humility, and unwavering devotion to ministry.
