A wedding that was supposed to take place today, Friday, January 9, 2026, in Anambra State, ended in a fiasco after the bride, Jennifer Chisom Ananti, failed to appear at the ceremony.
Guests from all walks of life had already assembled at the church, awaiting the arrival of the beautiful bride, but she never made it, raising concern and suspicion among family members, friends and the wider community.
Ananti, a native of Egbengwu village in Nteje, Oyi Local Government Area, was scheduled to marry Celestine Odigbo at Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church, Umueri, with a reception planned at the Umueri Recreation Club.
However, as preparations were completed and guests were already felicitating with the groom and his family, key members of the bride’s family and the bride herself were not anywhere in sight.
It was initially thought to be a slight delay, but the groom reportedly was uncomfortable because the phone line of his bride was not reachable.
Her family members reportedly claimed they did not know when she left the house and did not know where she went.
A missing person notice bearing her name and photograph quickly began circulating on social media, urging anyone with information about her whereabouts to contact the listed numbers or report to the nearest police station.
Political figure Maria Ude Nwachi suggested that the groom suspects foul play involving the bride’s family, although no formal accusation has been filed with law enforcement.
When contacted by journalists, one of the numbers on the missing person notice declined to provide details, instead appealing for time to secure authorisation from unnamed family members before making any public comment.
As of this report, the Anambra State Police Command has not issued an official statement, and the circumstances surrounding Ananti’s disappearance remain unclear.
Family members and well-wishers continue to express concern for her safety, with some appealing for calm and urging anyone with credible information to assist in locating her.
The incident has attracted significant attention online, with many Nigerians discussing the unusual development and offering prayers for her safe return.
