A Kenyan man, Charles Muriithi, has accused medical personnel at a high-brow hospital in Nairobi of harvesting his wife’s kidney during a Cesarean Section at their facility.
Muriithi raised the alarm on Tuesday, claiming the disturbing discovery was made after his wife began suffering ongoing health complications following a medical procedure carried out at Mama Lucy Kibaki Hospital.
According to him, repeated hospital visits and medical tests later revealed that one of her kidneys was missing.
He alleged that neither he nor his wife was informed of any procedure that could have required the removal of an organ, insisting that the discovery came as a complete shock to the family.
Describing the doctors involved as “rogue,” Muriithi accused them of professional negligence and possible organ theft, stating that his wife’s condition deteriorated significantly after the hospital visit, prompting further investigations elsewhere.
Following the revelation, he said he formally petitioned the Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentists Council (KMPDC), requesting a thorough investigation and accountability from those responsible.
However, he expressed frustration over what he described as a lack of concrete action from the regulatory body.
“I have done everything required by law, but nothing seems to be happening,” Muriithi lamented, calling on relevant authorities to urgently intervene.
The allegations have sparked concern online, with many Kenyans demanding an independent probe into the matter and stronger oversight of public healthcare institutions.
As of the time of filing this report, Mama Lucy Kibaki Hospital and the KMPDC had not issued an official response to the claims.
The case remains unproven, and investigations, if any, are yet to be made public.
Muriithi has urged authorities to act swiftly, saying his family is seeking justice, answers, and assurance that similar incidents will not happen to other patients.
