The Senior Pastor of Mountain of Liberation and Miracles Ministries, Chris Okafor, has reportedly failed to appear before the Lagos State Police Command following an invitation over allegations of rape and other offences considered capable of breaching public peace.

According to information obtained by the Punch, the cleric was asked to report to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Panti, on Monday by 10:00 a.m., where he was expected to appear before the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of the department.

In a statement issued on Sunday, the Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, Superintendent of Police Abimbola Adebisi, disclosed that the Commissioner of Police, Olohundare Jimoh, had ordered a comprehensive investigation into the allegations made against the pastor.

She explained that the invitation followed multiple complaints bordering on alleged sexual offences and related misconduct.

However, a senior officer at the SCID, who spoke on condition of anonymity due to restrictions on speaking to the media, confirmed on Monday that Okafor did not show up as scheduled.

“Following the CP’s directive, the DCP instructed the relevant unit to debrief him, but he never came. It is already evening, and he has clearly not honoured the invitation today,” the officer said.

Another police source familiar with the situation disclosed that the pastor allegedly sent representatives to the police, appealing for additional time.

“We received calls from individuals pleading on his behalf and requesting that the police grant him more time. They assured us he would still present himself,” the source said.

The police command had earlier stated that adequate security had been provided for alleged victims and encouraged them to report to the SCID to aid investigations.

The command also assured that the identities of complainants and witnesses would be kept confidential.

However, it was learnt that as of Monday, no individual had reported to the SCID claiming to be a victim or witness in connection with the allegations.

Attempts to reach the police spokesperson for further clarification were unsuccessful, as calls and text messages sent to her were not returned at the time of filing this report.

The controversy surrounding Okafor began in mid-December 2025 after several allegations surfaced on social media.

Among them were claims by Nollywood actress Doris Ogala, who alleged in online videos that she had a prolonged sexual relationship with the pastor Chris Okafor beginning in 2017. She further accused him of broken promises and actions that allegedly affected her personal life.

Amid the backlash, the pastor reportedly addressed his congregation on New Year’s Day, admitting to past mistakes and publicly seeking forgiveness. Reports have also emerged that he stepped aside from ministerial duties as religious bodies consider possible disciplinary measures.
