An African man, later identified as Eric Mutuma Kaithula, from Kenya, has been found lifeless in a hotel room in Washington, D.C. United States of America.
Mutuma, a 46-year-old father of one and a resident of Maple Valley, Washington, was found dead in a hotel room in Kent, Washington.
It turned out that he had been declared missing two months ago by his family. The discovery of his dead body brought to a tragic end weeks of uncertainty and anxious searching by family and friends.
He was last seen by family in October 2025, after which all contact with him was lost under unclear circumstances.
His sudden disappearance triggered widespread concern, prompting relatives, friends, and members of the Kenyan diaspora to launch appeals across social media platforms, community groups, and personal networks in the hope of locating him alive.
Those efforts, however, ended in sorrow as the new year began with confirmation of his death, leaving loved ones devastated and struggling to come to terms with the loss.
Authorities have not yet disclosed the circumstances surrounding Mutuma’s death, and no official cause has been made public. The lack of details has deepened the grief, with many questions still unanswered.
In a message shared by the family, they expressed their pain and confusion over the tragic outcome, noting that they are relying on faith during the difficult period.
“We are filled with many unanswered questions, but only God has the answers,” the statement read.
The family also appealed to well-wishers for prayers and financial assistance to help them navigate the challenging days ahead, including arrangements related to Mutuma’s passing.
Tributes have continued to pour in from members of the Kenyan diaspora, who described him as a devoted father and a quiet, hardworking individual whose death has left a deep void within the community.
