A young man, identified as Chisom Uba, has reportedly lost his life following a violent dispute with a cousin over a phone charger in Ihiala, Anambra State.

According to fellow community members, the incident happened on December 17, 2025.

The 20-year-old had reportedly earlier lent his phone charger to his cousin, Chukwuemeka Uba.

When he needed it back, and he went over to Uba’s house to retrieve it, he met stiff resistance from his cousin. This infuriated Chisom, who reacted violently. The situation escalated very rapidly into a physical confrontation.

During the altercation, Chukwuemeka allegedly attacked Chisom. It was further reported that the suspect’s father, Kenneth Uba—who is also the uncle of the deceased—joined in the assault, which ultimately resulted in Chisom’s death.

A post circulating online confirmed the incident, stating that both the cousin and the uncle were subsequently arrested by security operatives. The post also alleged that angry youths in the community later set the uncle’s house on fire in reaction to the killing.

A video shared on social media reportedly shows Chisom lying on a hospital bed as family members wept around him.

Speaking at the scene of the burnt house, the deceased’s mother, Prophetess Ebere Uba, lamented the loss of her son, insisting that the incident stemmed solely from the disagreement over the phone charger. She claimed her son was attacked inside a room and appealed for justice.

Mrs. Uba further disclosed that her son’s remains have been deposited in a mortuary, while the suspects are currently in custody as investigations continue.
