A wedding video is making the rounds on social media, especially up north, not because of the opulence of the ceremony, but for the unusual spectacle of a mentally ill woman showing up with excitement to dance with the bride.

The video captured the moment the well-known mentally-ill woman burst into the party, beaming with smiles and going straight in the direction of the bride, who welcomed her with open arms. They embraced and danced together energetically and happily.

As narrated by X (formerly Twitter) user @wittycrimes, the bride, identified as Hadiza, was in her shop sometime ago when the mentally challenged woman walked in asking for food.

Hadiza reportedly gave her food and cared for her, leading to the mentally ill woman making repeated visits to her shop almost daily.

Hadiza herself was said to be facing prolonged uncertainty in her personal life. Although her traditional marriage items, known as kayan lefe, had already been delivered to her family home — a step that typically precedes a wedding — months turned into nearly two years without any marriage date in sight.

She was getting frustrated as many of her friends had their traditional marriage ceremonies after hers and went ahead to formally marry and start raising their families.

According to the X user, Hadiza was in her shop one day, when the mentally ill woman arrived as usual, but this time, she carried with her henna material.

She reportedly said she might not be visiting often because she wanted to get married. She then reportedly requested her benefactor to decorate her hands with the henna.

Although amused by the request, Hadiza reportedly complied and later accompanied the woman home to see where she lived.

The mentally ill woman reportedly prayed for Hadiza that her own wedding would come very soon.

Less than a week after the encounter, the groom allegedly resurfaced, announcing that all arrangements had been completed and that the wedding would proceed immediately.

From preparations to the ceremony itself, the entire process reportedly took less than two weeks.

On Hadiza’s wedding day, the mentally ill woman suddenly showed up to rejoice with her friend.

As she entered the gathering, she put aside the black nylon bag in her hand and rushed towards the bride with excitement to embrace her.

No one made any effort to restrain her, as most of the guests had seen her as Hadiza’s friend over time.

The video has become a sensation on TikTok, with the keywords “Bride dancing with mad woman on wedding day” remaining a top search query on the app.

Many are commenting on the compassion and humility of the bride, which could have led her to maintain a friendship with such a person.

Some netizens are using the narrative to illustrate that kindness shown without judgment can return in unexpected ways.
