Former Lagos State Deputy Governor, Princess Adejoke Orelope-Adefulire, is mourning the loss of her only son, Dr. Oluwafemi Olawale Adefulire, who passed away in the early hours of Wednesday, December 10, 2025, in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. 

The tragic incident occurred shortly after he underwent a surgical procedure.

A family source confirmed the development to Vanguard, describing it as a devastating blow to both the family and the broader political community in Lagos.

Dr. Olawale, who was based in the United Kingdom, is survived by his wife and children.

The Lagos State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) officially acknowledged the loss in a statement on Thursday, December 11, extending condolences to Princess Orelope-Adefulire and her family.

Princess Orelope-Adefulire, a prominent figure in Lagos politics, served as Deputy Governor from 2011 to 2015 under former Governor Babatunde Fashola. 

She currently holds the position of Senior Special Assistant to President Bola Tinubu on Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), a role she also held under former President Muhammadu Buhari before being reappointed in September 2023.

The passing of Dr. Oluwafemi Olawale Adefulire has drawn widespread sympathy from political leaders, colleagues, and citizens alike, highlighting the personal loss behind the public figure’s long-standing service in Nigerian politics.
