A South African woman identified as Eunice has reportedly died from severe injuries she sustained in an acid attack believed to have been orchestrated by the wife of her lover.
The shocking incident has sparked widespread outrage on social media, where many are condemning the growing trend of violent domestic disputes.
The incident was made public by South African X user Kgadi Yamoloto on Saturday, December 6.
Yamoloto, who described the deceased as her former schoolmate, said Eunice had been battling for her life after the attack but sadly passed away on Friday.
According to Yamoloto’s account, the man’s wife allegedly hired four men to pour acid on Eunice and members of her family in an attempt to scare her away from the relationship.
“Women still fight for men? A lady I went to school with was poured with acid last week by another woman over a man. She succumbed to her injuries yesterday. It’s so sad,” she wrote on X.
She further revealed that the suspect now faces a murder charge for masterminding the brutal attack.
“Imagine a woman hiring four men to pour another woman and her family with acid so she can date her cheating husband in peace. Now it’s murder, and she is going to jail, leaving her kids behind. Job and future down the drain for someone else’s decisions. Rest in peace, Eunice.”
Authorities have not yet released an official statement on the investigation.
