A man accused of sexually assaulting a disabled woman in Rappolemba Village, Gowa Regency of Indonesia, has been killed, with his male organ cut off by an irate mob.
According to reports by Mail Online, the suspect, identified as Ali, 47, was alleged to have attacked the woman—identified only as T—on November 30.
The victim was reportedly found severely traumatised and injured, sparking widespread outrage among residents.
Ali reportedly fled his home after the incident and sought refuge at the house of a relative before escaping into a nearby forest to avoid being confronted by villagers. Local media reported that he remained in hiding for several days.
He was eventually spotted on December 3 when he emerged from the forest in search of food. Passersby recognised him and reportedly alerted others, leading to a mob attack that resulted in his death. Videos circulating on social media appeared to show residents dragging the suspect’s body through the streets.
Gowa Police Chief, Senior Adjunct Commissioner Muhammad Aldy Sulaeman, confirmed that officers rushed to the village to restore order and secure the area after the lynching.
“We can confirm that several videos have circulated regarding an assault on an individual,” he said. “Based on the reports received, the situation is now under control. We are conducting further investigations to determine the full chronology of events.”
He added that various police units—including medical, intelligence, and criminal investigation teams—had been deployed, and the force was working with the South Sulawesi Regional Police to stabilise the area and carry out a post-mortem examination.
Some residents claimed that the suspect had a history of troublemaking, alleging he had previously served a prison sentence for theft and had recently been released.
Authorities, however, emphasised that the investigation is ongoing to clarify all circumstances surrounding both the alleged assault and the mob action.
