Reality TV star Tacha has reacted to the ongoing controversy surrounding a popular online vendor, Aunty Esther, who reportedly refused a blood transfusion while undergoing treatment for breast cancer, despite Nigerians raising about N30 million for her medical care.
Aunty Esther, known on X (formerly Twitter) for her frequent business promotions, recently revealed she had been battling breast cancer and was opting for natural treatment.
Concerned social media users organised a fundraiser to assist with her hospital care and encouraged her to embrace modern medical intervention.
However, organisers of the fundraising effort later returned to X to express frustration, claiming that Esther refused a medically recommended blood transfusion at the hospital.
The revelation sparked widespread debate online, with many questioning her decision and the role of religious beliefs in medical emergencies.
Tacha’s reaction
Weighing in on the controversy, former Big Brother Naija star Tacha said people should be allowed to make their own decisions even if the outcome is unfavourable.
She wrote:
“Honestly, if somebody wants to die, I don’t see the argument. You people should allow the person. I don’t see the point trying to save someone who doesn’t want to be saved.”
Tacha argued that the issue was not just about religion but about personal choice, adding that Esther had previously shown what she described as “recklessness” on social media by promoting her business during sensitive moments.
She questioned the logic of rejecting a life-saving medical procedure while continuing to engage actively online and criticised supporters for overlooking behaviour she considered inconsistent.
Tacha also noted that the funds raised — reportedly around ₦30 million — could help many others, saying they should be redirected to people who genuinely want treatment and wish to survive.
