The management of legendary musician Innocent Idibia, better known as 2Baba has raised concerns about how his wife is negatively impacting his career and business, especially in the international arena.
Key members of the musician’s team spoke with media personality, Daddy Freeze on an Instagram Live chat on Monday,citing instances when the artiste’s private affairs undermined his business.
One alleged that many international arrangements they made for 2Baba were halted when Natasha Osawaru, his wife insisted that the plans had to be stepped down for now.
They argue that this goes against their plan to boost the artiste’s international presence, and make money just like other Nigerian artistes are doing.
One team member said foreign shows fetch more money, adding that “even if it’s 100,000 people listening, the money is enough to sustain you.”
The aide said, “2Baba needs to recognise that this woman is bad for business.”
When Daddy Freeze probed for specifics, the team members said they would not like to comment on family issues, but added that “this thing is deeper than what we’re seeing online.”
One hinted that there were unsettling moments in the singer’s home, adding that there was a time he entered the singer’s bedroom and saw things he was not meant to see.
“Daddy Freeze, I need therapy with what I’ve seen”, he said.
Another team member stated that the long-term vision he had for the singer when he started was to make him larger than any artiste in Nigeria.
He said 2Baba is not meant to compare himself to Burna Boy, but was to aspire to achieve the height Angélique Kidjo attained, adding that 2Baba can still fill arenas.
The team alleged that they sealed many major international projects in the UK, planned an African tour, stadium concerts, and government-supported performances in at least five countries.
They alleged that Natasha came and stopped them, asking them to step everything down.
It would be recalled that 2Baba was not able to perform at a show in London, United Kingdom, on October 2 this year, following what his management called a medical emergency.
News emerged shortly afterwards that the artiste was actually arrested after having an altercation with Natasha.
2Baba debunked the news at the time, claiming that it was fabricated. With his wife beside him, he claimed it was actually a medical emergency that prevented him from showing up.
He promised to do another show to compensate for the disappointment of his fans.
However, videos of the said shouting match between him and his wife, and his arrest in handcuffs by the police, have now emerged.
