Colombian pop singer, Mayerly Díaz, 32, has died of a sudden heart attack following a cosmetic procedure.

The singer’s sudden medical emergency is being linked to severe complications from the cosmetic procedure she was recuperating from.

Diaz underwent the procedure at a clinic in Bogotá, Colombia, in the early hours of Saturday, Nov. 22, 2025.

Diaz had made a name in both pop and local folk genres before her untimely demise.

Her recovery suffered a setback and was being treated for complications arising from her procedure at a hospital in Facatativá when she gave up the ghost.

Diaz was originally from La Sierra, in the Quipile municipality of Colombia. She is survived by two children, aged 11 and 13.

The singer was known locally as “The Voice of Quipile”. She started her musical career at just 14 years of age.

Her rendition of No supiste perder – You Didn’t Know How to Lose – attracted 58,000 views on YouTube.

Diaz only released the music video for her song “Con tus chiros a otra parte – Take Your Cash Somewhere Else – only last week.

Her manager and close friend, Néstor, said she would be forever remembered for her humility and the joy she brought in every song.

The specific cosmetic procedure Diaz underwent is not known.

The news of her demise has been shared widely across local and social media, with a publication, El Tiempo, claiming that an “immediate and rigorous investigation” would be conducted into her death.

Tributes have continued to pour in for Diaz, with her cousin, Leidy Díaz, writing of her: “I still can’t believe it, my dear cousin. We grew up together, and we fought together since we were little. You’ve left my heart in a thousand pieces, you’ve taken my soul with you, I will love you forever and as I always told you.”

The Mayor of Quipile,  Efraín Medina,  regretted the demise of the singer in a statement.

She expressed her “most sincere condolences and solidarity to her family, friends, and loved ones.”

“In these moments of sorrow, we offer our prayers to God for her eternal rest and send a message of hope and strength. May she rest in peace.”
