Armed bandits abduct eight in Kano

Residents complained they gave police, military prior information

Bandits

The waves of banditry continued across Nigeria as gunmen stormed Biresawa village in Tsanyawa Local Government Area of Kano State and abducted eight people.

The incident happened between 11 pm and midnight on Monday, November 24, 2025.

Residents said six women and two men were taken into the bush and have not been seen ever since.

A resident, Kabiru Usman, said the armed bandits arrived on foot from neighbouring Tsundu village and kidnapped his wife, Umma, his 17-year-old daughter, Fati, his brother’s wife, and two other women.

He said the residents tried to stop the men, but their weapons were no match compared to what the outlaws carried.

It was learnt that the residents had prior warning of the attack and contacted the police and the military.

However, the prior notice to the security forces was of no effect as the bandits showed up as promised and abducted residents.

They went to the neighbouring communities, including Yan Chibi, Sarmawa, and Gano and raided them.

It was gathered that about 50 bandits riding motorcycles invaded Yan Chibi, firing into the air. There were, however, no casualties. They captured and abducted over 10 people, mostly women. Vigilante groups engaged the invaders, managing to get them to retreat with the abducted residents.

They gave the armed bandits a chase but could not move too close to them because of their heavy weapons, until they entered Katsina State.

Consequently, many families abandoned their homes, taking refuge in Faruruwa town or relocating to urban centres.

There were also attacks in Shanono and Bagwai local government areas.
