The HID Awolọwọ Foundation has adjusted the format of its upcoming National Dialogue on Women in Politics: Thirty Years After Beijing, scheduled for tomorrow, Tuesday, 25 November 2025.
The programme will proceed as planned but in a hybrid format, enabling participation both on-site and online.
In a statement released on Saturday, the Foundation explained that the modification became necessary in light of the sudden passing of Mr. Olusegun (Segun) Awolowo, grandson of Chief Obafemi Awolowo and Chief (Mrs) HID Awolọwọ.
The Foundation noted that his death has plunged the Awolọwọ family and many admirers of their legacy into deep mourning, prompting a sensitive restructuring of the event.
According to the announcement, those attending physically will gather at Ẹfunyẹla Hall in Ikenne, while participants unable to be present in person are invited to join virtually. This approach, the Foundation said, ensures that the important national conversation continues without excluding anyone affected by recent events.
The Board further resolved that the dialogue will feature a dedicated segment honouring the late Segun Awolowo—highlighting his service, leadership values, and the enduring principles associated with the Awolọwọ tradition.
While acknowledging the sombre circumstances surrounding the adjustment, the Foundation reaffirmed its commitment to advancing discussions on women’s political inclusion, a cause to which Chief (Mrs) HID Awolọwọ devoted significant energy throughout her lifetime.
