A 15-year-old Turkish boy, Muhammed Kendirci, has died after a high-pressure air hose was inserted into his rear end in what was purportedly meant to be a workplace prank.

On Friday, Nov. 14, 2025, Kendirci was allegedly restrained by his senior colleague, named Habip Aksoy and a friend (name undisclosed) at a carpentry workshop, where they were learning, in Bozova, a municipality and district of Şanlıurfa Province in Turkey.

They pulled down his pants while he was pinned down, and they injected air into his rectum with a high-pressure compressor.

Kendirci suffered a ruptured intestine and serious internal organ damage. He was rushed to the intensive care unit of Bozova Mehmet Enver Yıldırım State Hospital.

From there, he was transferred to Balıklıgöl State Hospital, before being moved to Harran University Research and Application Hospital. He remained hospitalised for five days, before succumbing to his injuries on the morning of Nov. 19.

Aksoy claimed they were joking around and meant no harm, but the victim’s family are accusing him and the other suspect of torturing the late apprentice.

Aksoy was initially released after interrogation, but was picked up again by the police after their victim died, according to local publication Hurriyet.

A funeral service was held for Kendirci at the Bozova Asri Cemetery, according to Sozcu.

A member of the Turkish parliament, Suat Özçağdaş, has called for stiff penalties for the culprits. Writing on X, he insisted that Kendirci was tortured while working as an apprentice in a carpentry workshop.

He said the victim should have been at school and not a carpentry workshop.

The prosecutor’s office, which had earlier stated that the incident was a prank gone wrong, has now announced that further investigations are ongoing.
