Four men who allegedly raped a teenager and stabbed a man to death have lost their lives in a gun duel with the police in Delta State.

This was disclosed by the spokesperson of the Delta State Police Command, SP Bright Edafe, today, Friday, November 21, 2025.

Edafe disclosed that the men were professional criminals linked to robbery, murder, r@pe and other heinous crimes within the Ughelli North Local Government Area of the state.

The gang reported terminating the life of a man identified as Anthony Igoroko Omowho, after first robbing him and his wife in his house at Ekredjebor on the 11th of November, 2025.

Omowho was wounded in the operation and rushed to St. Nicholas Hospital. The hoodlums, by their own confession, allegedly trailed the man to the hospital.

They allegedly st@bbed him to death on his bed in front of his wife after robbing the nurses on duty.

Edafe said the men also confessed that as soon as they left the hospital, they robbed a Point of Sale terminal (POS) operator and her husband. According to him, the men inflicted injuries on their victims and raped the 18-year-old sister of the operator’s husband.

Nemesis caught up with the deceased when the operatives of the CP-Special Assignment Team (CP-SAT) traced them to their hideout on the outskirts of Ughelli and arrested them.

The police spokesperson said the men confessed to some of the crimes they had committed.

He said when the operatives were trying to take the arrested suspects out of the bush and back to the station, their colleagues sprang a surprise on them, shooting sporadically.

Edafe said the police team responded and successfully repelled the men with superior firepower.

He further said that the four suspects were struck by bullets fired by their colleagues, adding that their bodies were deposited at the General Hospital, Ughelli.

The police spokesperson said the state police Commissioner, CP Olufemi Abaniwonda, reiterated the commitment of his team to wipe out violent crime from the state.
