Iconic German entertainers, Alice and Ellen Kessler — better known across Europe as The Kessler Sisters — have died at 89.
The police found the bodies of the famous entertainers in their home near Munich on Monday, November 17, 2025.
According to the German Humanist Association, the twins decided to die together through assisted suicide.
Alice and Ellen Kessler were giants in post-war European entertainment. They were dancers, singers, cabaret stars, and cultural icons who dominated stages from Paris to Rome.
They were originally born in East Germany in the 1930s. The family, however, fled to Düsseldorf after the war.
They trained in ballet and commenced their illustrious careers at the famous Lido cabaret in Paris before they clocked 20.
They became global sensations in the 1960s, sharing stages with legends like Frank Sinatra, Harry Belafonte and Fred Astaire.
The Kessler Sisters later settled in Rome, where their popularity in Italy soared even higher.
The sisters devoted their lives to entertainment, never married and lived together all their lives.
They reportedly requested that their ashes be placed in a single urn, symbolising their lifelong bond.
