A petty trader in Abaji, south of Abuja city centre, Nigeria, Iya Bolu, has died suddenly after collapsing while carrying out her daily routine.
The woman was reportedly brushing her teeth in her compound when she slumped and gave up the ghost.
Fellow tenants told Daily Trust that the incident happened on Friday, around 7 am, after the deceased’s husband, a panel beater, had gone to his workshop.
She appeared to be hale and hearty, according to fellow residents, and she got her toothbrush and was cleaning her mouth when she suddenly stopped and fell to the ground.
A man, Mr Femi Ajakaiye, who identified himself as a relative of Iya Bolu, said she had finished praying in the morning in her room before stepping out and showed no signs of ill-health.
AJAkaiye said the deceased was preparing to go to the market where she did her trading before the tragic incident.
Efforts to save her proved abortive as the doctors in the hospital where they rushed her to said she was already dead.
It was gathered that the husband did not meet her alive after racing to the hospital upon being told of the incident.
The remains of Iya Bolu were taken to the morgue in preparation for being taken to her hometown in Ondo State for burial.
The deceased was reportedly planning to go to Ondo State for the burial of her mother at the end of this month.
