Man clashes with church officials at his son’s funeral service

A trending video has shown the moment a grieving father almost ruined the funeral service of his beloved son over the choice of songs to be played in Kenya.

The bereaved father was speaking at the funeral service he organised for his son, who died in a motor accident, when he asked that a reggae song be played.

The man reportedly told the crowd that his son’s best song was reggae, and it would be a perfect way to send him off.

The disc jockey, however, felt it would be inappropriate to play reggae on the equipment of a church, a position allegedly supported by the officiating pastor.

The bereaved man insisted that the song had to be played for the funeral to proceed.

He reportedly threatened to send everyone out of his compound if they would not give that honour to his late son.

This allegedly led to a stand-off which held up proceedings for some minutes before a compromise was achieved.

The DJ reportedly settled for “Gospel of Jah”, a reggae gospel song by Shasha Marley. The moment the song was played, the man began to dance to the song while the crowd watched with emotion.

However, the song only played for a few seconds before it stopped abruptly, leading the man to ask for it to be played again.

The moment it started and the man started dancing, it stopped again. This led to another standoff.

The video ended at this point, making it impossible to know how the issue was ultimately resolved.

The video is trending widely in Kenya, generating mixed reactions from viewers.

Some opined that the man deserved the right to choose how to mourn his son, while others argued that a church DJ was not expected to stock reggae songs nor be expected to play one.
