Apologise for calling military officer a fool- Fmr Aviation minister, Osita tells Wike

Former Aviation Minister, Osita Chidoka, has called on the Federal Capital Minister, Nyesom Wike, to apologise to the law enforcement officer he insulted during a recent confrontation.
Chidoka gave the advice in a statement he posted on his Facebook page on Tuesday. He argued that public officials must exercise authority through proper institutional channels instead of personal confrontation.
The former minister said every officer, whether in uniform or plain clothes, stands as a representative of the President and the Nigerian state.
He argued that insulting an officer amounts to eroding the authority of the Republic.
Chidoka said Wike’s decision to personally intervene at the disputed site was a fundamental mistake because democratic governance depends on institutions and legal procedures and not on confrontations by a minister.
He argued that exchanging angry words with security personnel following the chain of command weakens discipline and disrupts established authority lines.
Chidoka said an officer’s duty is to follow orders from superiors, not respond to roadside instructions, while a minister’s duty is to use lawful procedures.
He chastised the DSS operatives protecting Wike for heightening the tension instead of de-escalating it.
The former minister said their duty was to remove their principal from tense situations that could lead to harm.
He warned them to remember that their allegiance is to the state, not individuals>
Chidoka said Wike’s behaviour was not acceptable and lowered the dignity of the ministerial office.
