A student of Bayero University, Kano (BUK), Shafiu Auwal Ibrahim, who was declared missing by his family and the university community four years ago, has been found alive in Kaduna State.
Shafiu was living off campus in the Janbulo area of Kano in 2021 when his fellow students raised alarm when they could not trace him.
His family were contacted and a formal search was launched for him, involving his entire family, course mates, friends and the university community.
Police stations and morgues were combed in Kaduna and its environs, but there was no trace of the student.
His family have now announced that they have found Ibrahim in a village in Kaduna. He was living in the village with an Islamic cleric, who claimed he took him in when he was roaming around looking mentally unbalanced.
The family has expressed gratitude to God for finding Ibrahim after four years. They have taken him home.
A family source said he was in a stable condition.
