A Nigerian man, Udeme Etuk Emmanuel, has taken to social media to express the grief he felt at the loss of his beautiful wife, Mary Emmanuel, 23, and their daughter, barely a year after their wedding.
The couple had a beautiful wedding ceremony on November 2, 2024, and the wife conceived shortly afterwards.
A beautiful silhouette photo shoot of her pregnancy is now serving as part of the photos being used to mourn her.
The details of the complications that led to her death were not disclosed. The deceased’s family simply said she died a few days ago after giving birth to their first child, a girl.
Unfortunately, the daughter also died afterwards, leaving the family in double tragedy.
Mary and the baby were reportedly laid to rest yesterday, Thursday, November 6, 2025, in their village, Okoyo Community, Ukanafun Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State.
The bereaved husband, other family members and friends have since been paying Mary tributes on Facebook.
The widower, Emmanuel, wrote: “Our one-year anniversary wasn’t supposed to be like this. But there you are, lying still, not responding to all your sweet names. Afia Mma, this pain is enormous, and it’s difficult to be sane… But a small cry here and there will ease the hurting. I lack words, it’s empty, it’s blurry, and it’s tiring. Please take care of our Beautiful Daughter, she slept on with you. On this day and always, I celebrate the love that death could never take away.”.
