A man, Ibrahim Opeyemi Gasali, employed as a driver by a female wedding MC, popularly called Alaga in Nigeria, Mrs Abisola Bamidele, has allegedly run away with a bag of dollars belonging to his boss.
The boss took to social media to raise the alarm after getting home and discovering that her driver had stolen the money she was saving for her son’s education.
In an emotional video, Bamidele disclosed that she employed Gasali in July this year.
He did not give his employer any inkling of what he was capable of until a few days ago, when he dropped her off at work and then went into her home to steal the dollars.
Bamidele said she saved the money at home due to her experience when she needed dollars to send her older child to school abroad.
She disclosed that, despite having the money in a domiciliary account at the bank, she was unable to obtain the needed foreign currency.
Bamidele said she had to resort to buying dollars from the black market to enable her son to travel.
To prevent a recurrence of that experience, she opted to keep the dollars at home this time around.
Unknown to her, Gazali was studying her to know her movements and where her valuables were kept.
He put his knowledge of the house to good use and stole the money before absconding..
Bamidele said she had visited Ibrahim’s family, and they claimed not to know his whereabouts. She called on anyone who may know his whereabouts to inform the police on her behalf.
