A young lady identified as Ugochi has been raped and strangled in her room by a yet to be apprehended assailant in Port Harcourt.
The incident reportedly happened on Monday night when the deceased slept in her room.
According to a family friend of the deceased, who identified herself as Torty Mercy, the people who live in the compound with Ugochi and her siblings have all absconded.
She also disclosed that information emerging indicated that a man who also lives in the same compound had been harassing Ugochi for an affair.
Police would be requested to investigate the man, but he, like other occupants of the compound, is nowhere to be found.
Mercy wrote in a post on X (formerly Twitter) today,
“Nigerians, I need your help!!! Please help me call on @PoliceNG. I’m heartbroken as I type this. My family friend was raped and strangled to death in her room at Obigbo, Port Harcourt, on Monday night. Everyone in the compound ran away.
The case is being handled at Obigbo police station. Her body has been deposited in the mortuary. Ugochi and her sisters are helpless orphans who have nobody to fight for them. I’m not posting her full pictures because of the traumatic experience and how it will affect her siblings. We are ready to work with the police to unravel the killer or killers. Please help me repost, help me tag any authority you know who can help.

She returned to X later with this:
“I’m heartbroken. I’m so devastated. I just got to hear from her friend that a guy in the compound was harassing her.”
