A Lagos-based realtor, Anita Blessing, has taken to social media to celebrate breaking a 53-year-old family pattern of no weddings in her family.
Blessing posted videos from her traditional wedding on her TikTok page @anita_ann0 with emotional captions.
In one of the videos, she gleefully announced that she broke their family pattern.
Explaining it, Blessing said that in 53 years, their family had not received the blessing of holding a wedding, as no one had been able to get married.
She did not explain whether it was a case of the women not finding partners or if they were getting pregnant out of wedlock.
Whatever the case was, she said she had now changed the narrative by becoming the first to bring their entire family together for a formal wedding.
She expressed gratitude to God for giving her the grace to break the ‘evil pattern’.
It appeared the matter bothered her so much that she made it her major prayer for her Hallelujah Challenge.
Her full caption on one of her videos read: “POV: You broke the family pattern and became the first to marry in 53 years. El Roi, the one who sees me, did this. We break patterns here. Elroi did.”
Her story has generated massive reactions, with many congratulating her. Some with similar experiences have also been sharing them under her post.
A netizen, Loveth Peace, shared her own personal struggle under Blessing’s post.
She wrote:
“Same here o. On my mother’s side, their girls don’t get married. It’s either they die before the day of the marriage or they will get older and struggle and marry nonsense.
My husband came in 2023 to do an introduction. 3 months later, I got pregnant, and I started planning my marriage, but the devil said no. My husband’s business started crashing down seriously. No money to do my marriage. This 2025 I did Zion Ministry 100days fasting and prayer, and God began to change things around.
My husband’s business started rising again.🥰I did my traditional marriage this October 25th, tho it wasn’t easy. The battle was fire.”
