A Nigerian lady has recounted how a man she was planning to relocate to live with her in the United States of America slept with her minor daughter, 7, in her home in Lagos while she was abroad.
The lady, who took to social media to narrate her ordeal, said the man got her pregnant and still went ahead to violate her 7-year-old daughter, whom she had from a previous relationship.
According to her narration, on 25 October 2023, she was in the US when she video-called Nigeria to speak with her children.
She learnt during the call that her minor daughter was having stomach trouble and was in bed.
The lady said she asked the phone to be taken to her, and she asked her some questions about what she had eaten that could have resulted in the stomach trouble.
The little girl told her she had eaten beans prepared by the elderly live-in nanny employed to care for the children, and the mother asked if her stepfather had given her any medication for the stomach trouble.
The girl’s answer raised a red flag, as she told her mother that her stepfather had not offered her any medication but offered to give her a back massage.
The step-father reportedly jumped into the conversation to say it was not true and that he could not have suggested such a thing. The little girl, reportedly, fired back that it was true and that the man was lying.
The mother in the US said she knew instantly that something was wrong because the way the girl responded fiercely to her stepfather was unusual and ominous.
She said she dropped the call and initiated a call to a relative who was a nurse and narrated everything to her.
The mother said she pleaded with the nurse to go to her house to treat her minor daughter, and also to find out if she was still a virgin.
The aggrieved woman said that the following morning, she sent her partner to assist her in doing something in town, and the moment he left the home, she called the nurse to go into her house and investigate.
At the house, the nurse reportedly treated the little girl and examined her to find out she was no longer a virgin.
The nurse reportedly coaxed the girl to explain how she lost her virginity, and it was then that she broke down in tears to explain that she regularly had sex with her stepfather.
Narrating how it began, she reportedly told the nurse that it happened on a day she found a pair of panties and a makeup kit in the car and went to her stepfather to show them to him, asking who owned them.
The mother said the daughter told her stepfather that her mother does not wear make-up, and the panties were not her size.
The step-father reportedly collected the items and tossed them into the next compound, which was a vacant plot.
The man reportedly later went to the girl’s room to forcibly have intercourse with her while threatening to kill her if she told anyone.
The girl claimed that was when they started having regular sex in the house.
The mother of the girl said she reflected on the timing as recounted by her daughter, and she realised it was the time she was pregnant with the baby she shared with the suspect.
She said she immediately called in the police, who arrested the man and took evidence from the girl.
The aggrieved lady said the daughter was taken to the general hospital, where they examined her and confirmed that she had been violated.
The lady lamented that since the case started, there had been lots of efforts by the IPO in charge of the case, an Inspector of Police, to sweep the case under the carpet.
She alleged that the Inspector released the suspect instead of charging him in court as agreed, and she had to contact the state CID for assistance before the matter was taken up again.
The aggrieved lady said the IPO sabotaged the case again, leading her to take the case to Force headquarters in Abuja, where a probe was done and the IPO was indicted and dismissed.
She said the case had remained in court ever since, making little progress.
The lady called on Nigerians to come to her aid to ensure that her daughter gets justice and the suspect is stopped from destroying the lives of other children.
She alleged that her minor daughter’s life had been negatively impacted by what happened to her.
