Abubakar said Muhammad Sama’ila-Bagudo was abducted on Friday night around 8:20 pm, when he was returning home from the mosque.

According to him, the armed bandits invaded Bagudo town and waylaid the lawmaker while coming back from the Isha’i prayer.

Abubakar said the Command had deployed a joint team comprising police tactical units, military personnel, and local vigilantes to track down the kidnappers and rescue the lawmaker.

He said the team were already in the nearby forests trying to trace the bandits and rescue the abducted politician.

The police spokesman said the Commissioner of Police in the state, Mr Bello Sani, reassured the public that his team would live up to their responsibility of protecting the lives and property of the residents of the state.

It is gathered that the abductors are yet to announce their demands. The state government has yet to issue a statement on the incident.
