One dies, eight injured, as building collapses in Ajegunle, Lagos

A building has crashed again in Lagos, this time at Ajegunle, in the Apapa area of the state, killing one and injuring eight people.

It is the second incident after two people died in a collapsed two-storey building in the Oyingbo area of Lagos State four days ago.

The Ajegunle incident involved  three-storey building located at 28, Baale Alayabiagba Street.

Labourers were demolishing the house manually when it crashed on some of them, according to a statement by the Permanent Secretary of the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency, Olufemi Oke-Osanyintolu.

Oke-Osanyintolu said the three-storey building with a penthouse, trapped those carrying out its manual demolition.

He confirmed that eight adult males were rescued, while a man was brought out dead from the rubble of the collapsed building.

Oke-Osanyintolu disclosed tht the injured victims were immediately taken to a hospital for medical attention while rescue operations continued.
