The Lagos State government has waded into a strange case of a young lady who took e-hail transport to the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department (SCIID), Lagos State Police Command, Panti, asking them to give her an apartment.
The smartly-dressed young woman who reportedly speaks very well first took Uber from Lekki to SCIID, Panti Street, Yaba, claiming she wanted to file a case against the sun for being too hot.
She allegedly complained that the heat was too much and she was uncomfortable.
The trip fare was ₦15,000 when the Uber man took her to the station, but was stunned to discover the lady had no money to pay.
Upon realising his passenger was not of sound mind, the driver reportedly broke down in tears, saying that it was his first business of the day.
A sympathetic officer reportedly paid the fare to the distraught driver and ordered another Uber to take the young lady back to her home.
The following day, the lady took another Uber back to the same police station, this time, with two big suitcases containing her personal effects, asking them to offer her accommodation.
She also did not pay the Uber driver, yet again.
The lady reportedly rebuffed every attempt to chase her away as she insisted on being given an apartment.
When barred from entering the station, she reportedly stayed overnight at the entrance of the police station, drawing the attention of passersby and onlookers.
The state government has now waded in to rescue the lady and assess her mental state.
Lagos State Ministry of Youth and Social Development in a social media post said experts had been sent to rescue the lady.
The ministry said the case is a call for people to pay attention to their mental health amid environmental stress.
The ministry said the lady need compassion and not ridicule, promising to grant her the necessary intervention to restore her health.
