A viral video has shown the moment a heavy-set, dreadlocked man brutally knocked out a female usher with a slap during a church service in Haiti.
The horrific incident happened in August but the video recently emerged and travelled across the world.
The video shows the man approaching the woman at the entrance of the church.
The woman is standing holding a huge banner of an elderly woman, whose funeral service is believed to be ongoing inside the church.
The duo appears to exchange quick words, and the man lands a brutal slap on the side of the head of the usher.
She is knocked out momentarily, but her hand start moving moments later, giving assurance that she is not dead.
The video has created outrage in Haiti, with many people calling for the arrest of the man. It has reignited the campaign against gender-based violence in the country.
Many complained that violence against women without repercussion has gone on for far too long in Haiti such that men are now emboldened to do it at such a public forum without any fear of retribution.
The reason for the assault is not known, nor are the details of the participants.
The incident reportedly happened in August, but the video has continued to travel around the world due to the sheer viciousness of the attack.
The Police Nationale d’Haiti (PNH) which was tagged in most of the videos to fish out the aggressor, is yet to issue an official comment.
