Content creator, Peter Ugochukwu Okafor, better known as Ugo Eaglet, has said that relocating his family back to Nigeria in July is the best decision he has ever made in his life.

Ugo Eaglet and his wife, Chinelo Lawrencia Okafor, better known as JennySlimzy on social media, were based in Vienna, Austria, for many years.

Ugo was the first to travel out of the country over 20 years ago. After establishing himself there, he came home to marry JennySlimzy and began raising children with her right here in Nigeria.

Later, he was able to relocate his entire family, that is, Jenny and the two sons she bore for him, to Austria, where they had one more child.

In a video they posted in September, the couple explained that one major reason they opted to relocate from Austria was the language barrier.

The couple explained that German was the official language of communication and instruction in school.

They explained that their sons, born in Nigeria before relocating, found it very hard to cope in school because of the language barrier.

According to the couple, their children spoke German like native speakers, but struggled with its writing.

This negatively impacted their academics, and they could not keep up with the speed of their classmates in class.

“Kaima repeated his class a couple of times. The last one, when I followed him to school, he broke down in tears. I also joined him in crying,” Ugo recalled.

The boy could see that his mates being promoted to the next class were not better than him, but he was being held back by the language.

Jenny chipped in that on one occasion, when Ugo travelled to Nigeria for business, the children came to her to ask why they could not relocate to another country.

There and then, she said she picked up her phone and called her husband, who was in Nigeria, to tell him what the children said.

Taking over from his wife, Ugo said he deferred giving a direct answer until he returned to his family in Austria.

He said he then called them all together to ask them what they meant, and the children told him exactly what they wanted.

They wanted a country where the language of instruction would be English.

The couple said they considered the United Kingdom, America, Canada and Nigeria. They said they all finally agreed on Nigeria.

Coming back to Nigeria is a huge blessing- Ugo Eaglet

In a more recent video, Ugo explained that since they arrived back in Nigeria, there has been no regret.

He said he was particularly happy about the huge savings he has been able to make since July, when he stopped paying all manner of bills in Austria.

According to him, the bills took a lot of toll on his financial well-being. He listed some of the bills as a monthly €1,700 for his three-bedroom apartment. He also mentioned €240 for electricity and €4000 for health insurance for his wife per annum.

He said people may argue that infrastructure is poor in Nigeria, but added that a fraction of the money wasted on bills in Europe can fix the problem for the family.

For instance, he said he is not paying rent on his house in Lagos. Then, to ensure electricity 24 hours a day, he invested in a solar system powerful enough to power his ACs.

“The AC in my bedroom does not go off. It is powered by solar,” he said, adding that power had never been interrupted since the family arrived because they were providing their own light.

He said they are also providing their own water.

Ugo thanked his wife for agreeing to follow her children back to Nigeria, adding that many women in her age bracket would not want to come back to Nigeria.

Ugo has always been involved in film production, which used to bring him to Nigeria from Austria.

Now he will focus on it more. The couple have also delved into real estate. They are already promoting some houses for sale in Lekki.
