Enugu lady takes own life after finding another girl in apartment she rented for her boyfriend
A 22-year-old hairdresser, Miss Odama Mary Agado, has allegedly ended her own life after encountering another lady in the apartment she rented for her boyfriend.
The incident happened in Enugu, the state capital on Friday, October 17, 2025.
Mary, a native of Woleche-Ipuole in Yahe Ward, Yala Local Government Area of Cross River State, had been very generous to her boyfriend who was struggling.
She reportedly rented an apartment for him to enable them plan towards their marriage.
Mary, who was doing well in her business, reportedly bought a car, which she also released to her boyfriend to use.
A family source, identified as Daniel, said Mary paid her boyfriend an unscheduled visit in his apartment and found to her shock that he was locked up in the room with another lady.
Devastated at the discovery, Mary headed home sobbing and called her mother as soon as she got home to narrate what transpired, according to Daniel.
She reportedly told her mother she could not carry on living with the heartache and that her mother should take whatever happened in good faith.
Mary’s mother reportedly did not have airtime to call back after her daughter dropped the call.
Daniel further narrated that Mary’s mother did not alert neighbours for assistance, She was later called and told that her daughter had ingested swallow a poisonous substance and was rushed to the hospital.
She met her lifeless body as the doctors could not save her. The body was subsequently transported to her village in Yala, where she was buried on Saturday.
Daniel said there the deceased was too young for a customary burial ceremony, and was buried immediately.
Daniel said the family could not understand why a promising lady would take such a drastic action over a man she was not married to.
He said they had been told that she might have been spiritually manipulated.
Daniel said the family did not report the incident to the police because she killed herself.
