A man, Aniawonwa Chukwuemeka, who was on his way to the airport to catch a flight out of Nigeria, has lost his life in mysterious circumstances.

Eye-witnesses claimed he was a hit-and-run victim, but netizens are finding this difficult to believe.

They found it hard to believe a man flying out of the country would be struggling to cross the road with his luggage on that busy expressway.

Many are suggesting it might have been a robbery passed off as a hit-and-run incident.

The X user who posted a video of the incident, Candy, with the handle @Mvwulii, wrote that she saw the man’s body lying on the side of the expressway with his luggage beside him.

She said the people around the scene said a hit-and-run hit him. When they checked his luggage, they could see his international passport. They also found an EgyptAir ticket in his luggage.

Candy did not ascertain where the deceased was flying to. She, however, noted that the phone of the deceased was not found on his person.

“His phone wasn’t in sight, so it must’ve been stolen”, she wrote.

Responding to questions from netizens, she added that the man’s backpack was torn, and his clothes were scattered on the ground.

“They probably went away with his money too”, she wrote.

Candy also disclosed that the deceased appeared to have suffered broken bones, apparently from the contortion of his body.

She also observed that there were scraps of the vehicle that had collided with him on the floor near where he lay.

Describing the location, Candy said it was near the Marriott Hotel near the airport.

An X user, @Adewale_lekan07 wrote: “What if it wasn’t a hit-and-run? I wouldn’t think a person doing an international travel would want to be hopping on buses or picking ‘soole’ to go to the MMIA. Doesn’t make sense to me.

No eyewitness of the incident. Could it be a robbery through an e-hailing cab, and he was pushed out of the cab??’

Another user, EddyJoe @EdiriQX, wrote, “And he was on the verge of escaping, but Nigeria eventually happened to him. Sad 😢 What could have gone wrong? An international-bound flight, as such, should be by Uber-driven ride. Was he robbed by his Uber driver?”
