The Management of Taraba State University (TSU), Jalingo, has suspended the Students’ Union Government (SUG) of the institution for alleged misconduct during the recently concluded 2025 Students’ Week celebrations.

Students of the institution recently held the 2025 edition of Students week with a lot of activities.

One of the activities was Gender Swap Day during which female students dressed like male students and vice versa.

The school management however found faults with the implementation of the initiative, as it condemned what it called “unacceptable display by some of the students on the day.

The school management said the action ‘totally contradicts the TSU dress code and character molding by the university.

The Vice-Chancellor, Professor Sunday Paul Bako, in a statement on Tuesday, October 14, 2025, emarked that the “regrettable events” marred the week-long celebration.

He said the conduct of some students was inconsistent with the institution’s values and standards.

Bako disclosed that an emergency management meeting was convened on Monday, October 13, where the incidents were reviewed.

He blamed the current leadership of the SUG ffor poor coordination of the programme which allegedly led to the breakdown of order.

The VC said that as part of the resolutions reached, the SUG of the institution was suspended indefinitely pending an investigation.
