Singer Katy Perry, 40, has formally confirmed dating former Prime Minister of Canada, Justin Trudeau.
The singer confirmed the affair on stage during her Lifetime’s world tour, after she received a surprise marriage proposal during the show.
Perry turned down the proposal and announced to her fans that she was seeing Trudeau.
The two had been pictured on her 24-meter yacht, the Caravelle, off the coast of Santa Barbara, California, over the weekend, sending tongues wagging.
Justin Trudeau, 53, split from his wife Sophie in August 2023 after 18 years of marriage. They were blessed with three children, Xavier, 18, Ella-Grace, 16 and Hadrien, 11.
There was a period of silence until the former Canadian Prime Minister was seen in July having an intimate dinner at Le Violon restaurant in Montreal.
It was only a few weeks after the singer announced her separation from fiancé Orlando Bloom, 48.
Then, the two went quiet again until they were recently sighted making out on Perry’s yacht.
After the picture went viral, Trudeau’s ex-wife Sophie shared a mysterious message about ‘letting go’ of love in a new social media post.
Sophie, 50, a television host, spoke about the art of not holding on to love in a new Instagram post uploaded on Monday.
She philosophised that “nothing we love is ever meant to be kept,’ adding that this includes people, places, or ‘even the moments that once felt infinite’.
‘Time asks us not to cling to them, but yet we do. I do because to hold on feels safer than to let go’ she wrote.
While his new lover was announcing their relationship at her concert, the ex-PM celebrated Thanksgiving in Canada on Monday with his ex-wife, Sophie and their children.
It appears he intends to maintain the tradition of making the annual Canadian holiday a family occasion despite his separation from Sophie.
