Nigerian lady shocked as brilliant ex-classmate turns up at her door as dispatch rider
A Nigerian lady, Siza Kelvin, has disclosed her shock upon finding out that her former classmate, who was brilliant in class, is now a dispatch rider.
Kelvin said she made the discovery when the former classmate came to her apartment to deliver a parcel.
She wrote a caption for the video she posted, saying that nothing prepared her for the shock she felt upon recognising her former mate, who teachers used to tell them would become a medical doctor.
Kelvin said the brief reunion left her sad and dejected throughout the day. She explained that the state she found him was so far from where he was expected to be, and was therefore heartbreaking for her.
Her story, which she shared on TikTok, sparked widespread reactions, with many people dragging her for making fun of the honest job of her classmate.
This forced Kelvin to return to the platform to explain herself some more.
She clarified that her post was not meant to denigrate her mate but was to express her shock at the contrast between his academic potential and his current situation.
Kelvin condemned the negative comments that accompanied her post. She explained that her post was just out of extreme shock at seeing an old-time classmate in such a humble condition despite the prospects he had back in school.
The lady further said she was saddened that he had to go through so much and even risk his life daily to earn a living.
“I was simply surprised, and he vented to me on how frustrating it could be sometimes and how he wishes to be in a better position in life, and he seemed really depressed. That’s the reason I expressed how I felt with an ‘heartbreak’ because it’s quite heartbreaking that in the society we live in today, mere intelligence is not enough to get you to where you’re going, and it’s just sad, read to understand before creating a narrative,” she wrote.
