A Vancouver, Canada-based Nigerian woman, Olushola Erinle Adebere, known as Temmy Omoileri on X, has taken to social media to cry for assistance with her three children, who are all sickle cell patients.

In a post on X on October 9, Olushola disclosed that the case of her third boy was worse as he was losing his vision.

She lamented that the boy could barely see, even with the aid of a pair of glasses.

Olushola, a healthcare worker and church minister, said she had taken the boy to see many specialists, but they had not been able to offer much help.

She voiced the opinion that medical practitioners in Canada seemed to have little knowledge of the disease, nor did they have a treatment plan for it.

Hear her:

“I need information for sickle cell anaemia. 3 of my kids got sickle cell disease. They all wear glasses. Literally, we all wear glasses.

So, my 3rd boy has serious vision issues, and unfortunately, the specialists haven’t been able to understand why. He’s seen different specialists. Even with glasses, he can barely see. This is giving me some silent concerns as it’s well understood that the medical practitioners here in Canada (don’t) have enough information or treatment plans for sickle cell as compared to Africa and Europe.  This is what I’m told; it could be wrong. I will appreciate any information that’s legit to help him.”

Her post has generated massive reactions with many sympathising with her and suggesting possible solutions.

However, some Nigerians are critical of her choices, especially considering the level of awareness surrounding sickle cell in Nigeria, where she lived before relocating.

Many such people pass snide remarks suggesting that she is the cause of the suffering of her children.

One person pointedly asked her if she did not check her husband’s genotype before marrying him and if she did not check her kids’ status to know on time.

She responded: “None of us checked, but I knew I was AS. We both didn’t know until baby 4 was born in Canada. Thanks for asking. God bless you.”

Some other netizens are more brutal and unforgiving.

One named Rose Ugonma Ndukwe wrote: “You are very stupid, if at all you wholeheartedly gave birth to those kids, then you are very wicked and stupid, including your husband as those saying the Lord is your (strength). I don’t blame them, but you are very stupid and God will punish you. In 2025, you should know your genotype.”

@piercel, wrote, “Fvck you and everybody saying you’re strong. You are not strong, you are wicked and ignorant!”

@RukayatJimoh2, “Your a very wicked person. You & your partner knew that if you have kids they will be SS , you then proceeded not just to give birth to one but three kids. Did you not think of the future pains of the children, you are just selfish. For the ppl saying she is  strong are stupid.”

@olakennyd, “Your children might end up hating you for life, if they find out you’re the reason they can’t live healthily. I wear glasses, I know what it feels like not to see like everyone else. Coupled with some other pains they might feel.

Everytime they are in pain they probably swear for you. I hope you get out of these especially your kids.”
