Bride-to-be dies two days before wedding in Abia

Two families planning an elaborate wedding have been thrown into mourning after the bride-to-be, Mirian Chinonso Sunday, developed a sudden medical emergency and died two days before the ceremony.
The tragic incident happened in Umuahia, Abia State, on Friday, October 3, 2025.
The wedding was scheduled for Sunday, October 5, between the deceased and her fiancé, Ugochukwu Princewill (popularly known as Donish Gold).
Donish Gold had only recently shared their pre-wedding pictures on social media, expressing excitement and gratitude for finding love at last.
Preparations were already at top gear, and Mirian wanted to get something at the market when she suddenly started feeling chest pain.
The bride-to-be was rushed to the Federal Medical Centre (FMC), Umuahia, where doctors discovered that she was bleeding internally.
Doctors quickly opened her up to save her life, but their efforts proved abortive. She reportedly died shortly after the operation, according to Eyes Of Lagos.
The friends and family members of the deceased have since been paying her tribute on social media.
Many could not believe the sudden, tragic turn of events when her joy was only a couple of days ahead.
A close friend of the groom, Christian Ojike Agbaeze, wrote:
“A day meant for joy has turned into sorrow. Donish Gold, my brother, take heart; you don’t deserve this pain. We were supposed to celebrate love this weekend, but instead, we are mourning. Saddest month ever. Why, God?”
The man who was to compere the event has also shared his grief, posting a screenshot of their recent conversations:
He recounted how happy she was to book him for the grand day.
“We had planned for a day of laughter and celebration, but today, we are left with tears. From marriage preparations to funeral arrangements in one night — life is truly fragile. Rest in peace, Mirian,” he wrote.
