Armed robbers have allegedly raped a pregnant woman during a raid of her home around Junior staff quarters in Asaba, the Delta.
The incident happened in the early hours of today, September 28, 2025, according to activist Harrison Gwamnishu.
Gwamnishu, in a post, said the robbers had been terrorising the area for a while without any resistance from security forces.
The activist said the night maurauders came as usual today and felt comfortable enough to rape the madam of the house, who was heavily pregnant.
He also said they took their time raiding the house, collecting the occupants’ valuables.
Valuables the robbers stole included phones, jewellery and money.
Gwamnishu called on the local government chairman to do something about the incessant attacks on residents by armed robbers.
The activist said he got the report barely an hour after it happened. He complained that the Asaba Community Vigilante had become ineffective in the state capital, leaving the residents vulnerable.
He implored the Chairman of Oshimili South LGA, Hon. Obi Kelvin Ezenyili, to act speedily.
The police are yet to issue a formal statement on the incident.
