
Nigerian journalist and author, Matthew Simpa, has announced the release of a romance novel entitled ‘Juliet’.
According to a release by the author, Juliet is available in paperback on Amazon and on the indigenous online story platform, ITAN.
Simpa described his latest work as a blend of Nigerian romance drama, African contemporary fiction, and family drama.
The award-winning journalist said readers would find it impossible to put down the novel which treats a familiar terrain with a distinctively different approach.
In the novel, love collides with injustice, and the concept of the enemy within is extensively explored, according to the author.
The setting of the story is Lagos, where a journalist, Cletus Akinkugbe, gets enmeshed in a world of forbidden love, betrayal and political intrigue after showing a teenage girl compassion.
The storyline also delves into the life of a political godfather, Chief Jolaosho, who finds himself fighting enemies who turn out to be within himself.
The author of the riveting novel described the work as a mirror held up to society.
He added that the storyline treat redemption, resilience, and the courage to stand for truth regardless of the attendant danger.
Simpa said the work boasts elements readers crave, such as a strong female lead and multicultural romance.
He said the novel is the first instalment in the Threads of Love and Betrayal series. Two other parts are in the offing.
